The Myth of Carrying It All: What If That Weight Was Never Yours?

woman carrying large armful of books and papers. quote = you don't need to carry it all. You never did. purple door entrepreneur. kathryn gorham

Ever feel like you’re holding up your entire business, life, and future with your bare hands?

Like if you stop pushing, even for a moment, it might all fall apart?

You’re managing meals, moods, messes, and meetings.  Holding space for your business while holding everything else together.

Groceries. Guilt. Schedules. Sick pets.

Family birthdays. Your partner’s stress.

And somehow—you’re still supposed to launch, post, record, and grow.

It’s heavy.

And it’s real.

But it was never all yours to carry.

That feeling is real. But the story behind it might not be.

So what's the Myth?

We’ve been conditioned to believe that more responsibility = more worth.

That being exhausted means we care enough.

That holding everything alone somehow makes us strong or serious.

But here’s the truth:

That’s not power. That’s depletion.

Carrying it all doesn’t make you powerful.   Releasing what isn’t yours to carry—does.

This quote—“You don’t need to carry it all. You never did.”—is a reclaiming.

It doesn’t mean you stop showing up.

It means you stop carrying what doesn’t belong to your soul.

The expectations. The strategies that feel heavy.

The pressure to be everything to everyone.

What might you be carrying that isn’t yours?

  • Timelines that were never aligned with your rhythm

  • Advice that sounds smart but doesn’t feel right

  • A version of success that was never yours to begin with

  • Roles and responsibilities that don’t reflect your soul’s assignment

You were never meant to carry all of it.

You were meant to carry only what’s yours—

with grace, with alignment, and with help when needed.

Take a moment and reflect...

  • Where in your business or life do you feel heavy?

  • What are you holding that’s actually someone else’s fear, timeline, or expectation?

  • What would shift if you gave yourself permission to set it down?
